All of Archion's RAID controllers have flash firmware which is upgradeable and can be periodically updated. These updates can be performed without restriping the drives, and can be reactivated with a simple restart of the controller.

The capacities of both the Sumetra and ideA storage systems can be upgraded by purchasing larger storage modules, or in the case of the Sumetra, by adding an expansion chassis. For instance, a 365-gig Sumetra can be upgraded to a 730-gig Sumetra by purchasing 5, 73-gig modules or by adding a 730-gig expansion. The addition of the 730-gig expansion chassis will bring the total storage to 1095 gigs! Each Sumetra can be expanded up to 12 expansion bays. With 73-gig drives, this is a total of 13.1 Terabytes!

The ideA Fibre can be expanded by replacing its drive modules with larger modules or by adding an additional ideA Fibre to the overall system. Every ideA Fibre RAID adds not only storage but also two more 2 gigabit FC ports for more bandwidth.
