Limited Time Offer Enables Low Cost and Seamless Expansion of Popular Avid SAN with Award-Winning Synergy XTR

Burbank, CA – Continuing to significantly improve return on investment and extend the life of Avid Unity™ MediaNetwork™ systems for thousands of clients worldwide, including media enterprises like CBS, Sony, Turner Broadcast and 20th Century Fox, Archion Technologies announced today an exciting “Trade In Trade Up” program on its new Synergy XTR™ storage chassis.

For a limited time, customers can trade in their old Synergy chassis or Avid MEDIArray 1, 2, ZX, LP and XT for Archion’s newest Unity expansion chassis Synergy XTR. Customers that purchase a 32 Terabyte (TB) Synergy XTR directly from Archion will receive $8,000, while customers choosing a 16TB Synergy XTR will receive $6,000. Program guidelines and details can be found here.

“With Avid providing support for Unity through 2016, our Synergy XTR prolongs the life of these existing systems by delivering greater scalability, the latest technology and substantial cost savings,” said Mark Bianchi, Archion’s Chief Executive Officer. “Archion has proven itself over the years as a popular choice for Avid Unity customers, and this offer promises to increase our popularity even more.”

The latest in a family of proven expansion chassis that have been certified for Unity versions 4.x 5.x, Archion’s Synergy XTR is the only true option for Avid Unity MediaNetwork users that need to expand their storage capacity now or in the future. With its patent pending Vdisk™ technology, Synergy XTR offers seamless, plug-and-play integration into MediaNetworks storage systems.

“We continue to support Unity owners by enabling them to gain greater ROI on systems that they’ve purchased over the last few years,” said Reuben Lima, Chief Operating Officer of Archion. “For Unity users, our ‘Trade In Trade Up’ program extends the life of this very popular shared storage system. Most importantly, it allows them to utilize the performance benefits of Fibre Channel network protocol and prevents the need for a forklift upgrade to a different shared storage platform — an expensive and time-consuming process with the added risk of media loss.”

Unmatched Knowledge of the Unity Workflow

Archion’s knowledge of Unity-based workflows is unmatched by any storage vendor in the industry, and the company is dedicated on extending this knowledge to its customers. Synergy XTR offers simple, quick and seamless integration into Unity, preserving all of its great features, like project sharing and virtual workspaces. Because of this “nothing new to learn” integration, customers can keep the proven and widely accepted Avid workflow.

“Archion’s Synergy storage is a key component of our workflow, and it continues to impress us with its ease of use, cost-effectiveness and reliability,” said Denis Hunt, Chief Engineer at Broadway Video. “Synergy runs on the same Unity interface as our existing Avid drives, was seamless to integrate and works flawlessly for us in some very demanding environments. We will continue to invest in Archion as our storage demands increase.”
White Paper on Hardware RAID Protection in Avid Unity Environment Available
To summarize the benefits of Synergy, Archion has published a whitepaper Uncovering the Full Potential of Avid Unity MediaNetworks: Realizing Greater Rewards without the Traditional Risks that is available here on the Archion website. In addition, a comparison of the two add-on storage chassis — Archion Synergy vs. Avid XT — is available here.

Vdisk with Advanced Storage Technologies

Archion engineers originally developed the award winning and patent pending Vdisk in 2006 to enable plug-and-play integration of hardware parity RAID into Avid Unity MediaNetworks without changing the workflow. Later, this innovative technology was expanded and enhanced to create greater compatibility among applications in creative and collaborative environments. Synergy provides better protection with less storage overhead than Unity RAID. The RAID controller manages the disk drives, RAID sets and Vdisks in a more efficient manner, requiring far fewer drives than Avid storage subsystems to deliver higher capacities and resolutions.

Because Synergy is configured in RAID 5 with failover hot spare redundancy, the need to mirror storage or compromise media is eliminated, which can provide 60% more usable storage than mirroring. Incredibly, Unity MediaNetwork owners can save more than 70% per protected TB when adding Synergy storage. If more storage is needed, adding an Archion chassis is quick, easy and cost effective.
