A leader in shared storage solutions for media workflows, Archion Technologies has announced exciting new back up features to the EditStor platform.
Designed with multiple tools and capabilities for seamless back up of your media, including the utilization of low cost, hot pluggable expansion chassis’ for near-line and virtual tape libraries, EditStor now comes with direct SAS connected LTO archive options.
Simple, Affordable, and Fast LTO6 Archive
LTO6 is a newly enhanced addition to Editstor’s abilities. LTO6 drives certified for Editstor are easy to attach and setup for unattended backup. The LTO6 drive options are simple and quick to install with basically one SAS cable connecting the tape drive system to the Editstor. EditStor and LTO6 will uniformly work to back up full or incremental media and further able to pin point a certain spot on the tape and go directly there. At start up, Editstor will recognize the tape device and it will show up in the backup menu. You can then create and assign backup tasks such as incremental or full backups and ultimately automate backup strategy with ease.
LTO6 provides 2.5TB of uncompressed storage and double that with 2:1 compression. With five (5) tapes compressed or 10 tapes uncompressed you can backup an entire 32TB EditStor system. And, since the LTO is connected to the Editstor’s SAS bus, the backups are extremely fast – approximately 5gb per minute from tape to EditStor – and unnoticeable running in the background.
EditStor Shared Storage Platform
Designed for media workflows by media workflow experts, EditStor has made media sharing among post production professionals easier and more affordable. Leveraging the power of standards based Ethernet protocols, Editstor delivers unparalleled functionality and scalability. EditStor is currently available in two models:
EditStor ES: Designed for facilities that don’t require more than a few GigE (or bonded GigE) client connections.
EditStor EO: Designed for facilities that require greater performance and/or direct 10GigE client connectivity.
With such features as transparent Avid project sharing (bin locking), post production facilities have a very compelling alternative to shared storage products like Avid ISIS.
