What happens to my media if a drive fails with an Archion system?

  • Nothing in most situations, because Archion systems are full hardware RAID protected.
  • The RAID controller will detect the drive failure and automatically recreate and deliver the data as if the drive was still functioning. The controller would then issue a warning beep to tell you that a drive failure has occurred and start rebuilding the data on the built in hot spare.
  • Ideally, the NLE’s will continue functioning as if nothing has happened. However, you might experience an “audio under run” message which you would need to clear to continue working.
