-More Than 1 Petabyte of Archion Storage for Avid Unity MediaNetworks Powering Post Production in Greater New York
"Archion's Synergy storage is a key component of our workflow and continues to impress us with its ease of use, cost-effectiveness and reliability," said Denis Hunt, Chief Engineer at Broadway Video. "Synergy runs on the same Unity interface as our existing Avid drives, was seamless to integrate and works flawlessly for us in some very demanding environments. We will continue to invest in Archion as our storage demands increase."
During the last five years, an increasing number of New York facilities have come to rely on Archion's Synergy solution, which is powered by its patent pending Vdisk™ technology. With Avid's inability to deliver expansion storage, Archion has positioned itself as the first choice in storage hardware. It provides Avid MediaNetwork owners with the comfort of knowing that they can utilize this proven SAN for years to come while expanding with ease as their storage requirements continue to grow.
White Paper on Hardware RAID Protection in Avid Unity Environment Available
To summarize the benefits of Synergy, Archion has published a whitepaper-Uncovering the Full Potential of Avid Unity MediaNetworks: Realizing Greater Rewards without the Traditional Risks-that is available here on the Archion website. In addition, a comparison of the two add-on storage chassis -- Archion Synergy vs. Avid XT -- is available here.
"Simply put, Synergy offers more bang for the buck than any other system," said Omar Oliveros, Head Engineer at Goldcrest Films. "It's really a no brainer when you compare reliability-the driving factor-with ease of use and the simplicity of transitioning it into an existing system."

Seamlessly Integrates Widely Adopted & More Scalable Expansion Storage
Burbank, CA May 24, 2011 An award-winning television production company that offers a fresh creative style for cable programming, broadband and the web, Nancy Glass Productions (NGP) recently added Archion Technologies' Synergy solution to their Unity MediaNetwork to store increasing amounts High-Definition (HD) content and streamline its file-based workflow.
According to Jason Saro, Senior Avid Editor and Unity MediaNetwork Administrator at NGP, the decision to add a 32 terabyte (TB) Synergy UXE system was based on choosing the highest quality and most cost-effective storage solution to handle entirely tapeless productions.
"In an era of tight budgets, it's absolutely essential to make the right buying decision," said Saro. "We have eight edit suites filled with Avids and a 32 TB Unity, so it was a big decision to bring a third party like Archion into our Avid setup. However, by choosing the Synergy UXE, we added much more fully protected storage to our Unity than if we went with Avid storage. The Synergy UXE was a wonderful solution at less than a third of the cost, yet it maintained our high standards of quality, performance and data protection."

Adding Affordable, Reliable RAID Protection for 'Judge Joe Brown' and 'Swift Justice with Nancy Grace'
The preeminent company in television syndication. CBS Television Distribution (CBS) has selected Archion's Synergy UXE storage solution to expand its Avid Unity™ MediaNetwork™ for two of its shows, the highly rated court show "Judge Joe Brown," and the new "Swift Justice with Nancy Grace." Increasing its storage by a factor of 10, the three new 32 terabyte (TB) Synergy UXE systems from Archion Technologies provide CBS with a total of 96TBs of storage, including 72 TBs of usable storage (RAID 5 protected).
After the decision was made to go tapeless for the 220 episodes of this season's "Judge Joe Brown" show, a major upgrade to their storage was required, explained industry consultant Joel Epps, who helped architect the overall solution. CBS has three Avid Media Composer software desktop stations, two Avid Media Composers with Avid Mojo, one Avid Nitris, and one Avid Symphony Nitris™. They also made a decision to upgrade their Avid Unity to the Media Engine 5.1x.
To effectively post "Judge Joe Brown," they needed the ability to store at least half a season before archiving the media, Epps noted. On the other hand, for "Swift Justice with Nancy Grace," they needed more flexibility because video comes in from a variety of sources. This requires both more storage and quick access to the media _ both of which Synergy UXE provides.
"CBS wisely chose Archion because of three important factors _ budget, scalability, and protection," said Epps. "They were all set on upgrading their Avid Unity and needed a minimum of 48 usable TBs of protected storage. However, by choosing the Archion Synergy UXE, they were able to add substantially more protected storage to their Unity Media Engine than if they had purchased Avid storage with the same budget. The Archion cost/benefit ratio was too good to ignore, and at the same time, they didn't sacrifice quality, performance, or data protection.
